Why Hasn’t the Law of Attraction Delivered Yet?

If you have followed the Secret and the Law of Attraction, you know:

  • To attract the things you want, you need to think them into being.
  • See them, visualise them and expect them.
  • You will then be guided, inspired or led to the perfect action to bring about the process leading to what you seek.

If you take deliberate action that doesn’t feel good, it isn’t right. When you feel negatively about something, you are not matched with your inner being. In order words there is a mis-match.

When you feel good, the vibration matches that of your inner being.

But Monitoring Your Thoughts is Time Consuming

If we try to monitor our thoughts, it is very difficult and time consuming. If we look at how we are feeling, we know whether or not we are in alignment with our intentions, the purpose of our inner being.

These emotions act like a guidance system to tell you whether you are on the right vibration or not, whether your vibration is in alignment to your inner being and source (whatever you believe that to be; Universe, God) and all that is.

  • First you must state what you want
  • Then you must BELIEVE it is coming into existence – the allowing part

If you say you want a new red car, the more attention you give to the thought of wanting that red car, the more excited you get and the faster it will become yours. Once you have created the thought, and backed it up with powerful positive emotions whilst thinking about it, all you need to do then is allow it by expecting it and believing it.

If you doubt your ability to have it or think it’s too expensive, you have hindered the process of creation.

It’s a bit like when you order something from a catalogue or online. You pick what you want, pay for it, get excited and then forget about it because you know it is coming.

When you worry that you cannot achieve a manifestation or get frustrated that it hasn’t come yet, you are focussed on the absence of it into your experience.

Exercise to Assist in Deliberate Creation

  • Take 3 separate pieces of paper or use 3 separate pages in a notebook
  • At the top of each write 3 headings of things you want
  • Under the 1st heading write “These are the Reasons I Want this..” and list your reasons
  • Turn the paper over and write “These are the reasons that I believe I will have this” and list your reasons that you believe you will have it.

The first side enhances what you want. The second side enhances the belief that you will have it. You have accomplished both sides of the creative process.

All you need to do now is continue to want it and expect it until you have it and it will be yours. If doubts start creeping in, read the 2nd side again.

There is no limit to the amount of things you can simultaneously create.

However, in the beginning it is best to concentrate on 2 or 3 things to make it easier to stop doubt creeping in.

  • First there is thought
  • Then thought form
  • Then manifestation

You can choose to positively expect or negatively expect.

The law of attraction automatically adds power to whatever form your thought takes until it manifests.

However, it takes some time and attention to a subject to draw enough power to it to cause manifestation so it is easy to change negative thought form to positive thought form.

Reiki makes it so much easier

I’ve found with adding reiki to the equation, that also adds power to it without you having to think so much and you can add an intention that you are so grateful that you have a positive mindset to help you. You then need to believe it and know that you will create it. I have manifested lots of things through reiki without having to try too hard at all. I also have an intention for myself in my reiki box that I have a grateful, happy and positive mindset. It really works!

What if what you want seems slow to come?

If something you want is slow to come to you, there is only one reason; that is that you are spending too much time focussed upon it’s absence than it’s presence.

Also we should not believe that we are unworthy. We are not here to prove that we are worthy. The very fact that you have emerged in this time-space reality is proof of your worthiness to be, do or have whatever you desire. You are actually here for the experience of joyful expansion.

We should never justify the good that comes to us either..

as this says that you believe in the limitation of resources when in reality there is more than enough for everyone.

When you are in the mode of justifying, you are in a negative mode as you are focussed on trying to convince others that it is OK for you to desire rather than being focussed on what you want.

Creating should be effortless

The only action you need to take is a way in which you enjoy what you have created through though. In other words you need to align the thoughts o your desires with matching beliefs and expectations.

“Action that is inspired from aligned thought is joyful action. Action that is offered from a place of contracted thought is hard work that is not satisfying and does not yield good results”

When you are excited and feel inspired to act it is a clear indication that your vibration is pure. when you are having a hard time making yourself do something, it is because your vibration is low and you are offering thoughts in opposition to your desire.

As you set forth your thoughts of what you want, you must be clear enough that it brings about emotion before you bring about the attracting process and, even then, you must allow it and expect it into your experience before it manifests. That buffer of time provides you with much opportunity to be very clear about how desirable the thought feels to you.

If you are too specific about “how”, your desires will not manifest ..

You might have doubts and negative emotions or thoughts because of those doubts so it is best to state what you want and leave it up to the Universe to figure out the how.

Always add the intention “For your highest good” , state it with gratitude as if you have it already and you won’t go wrong.

Space Cleansing

Space cleansing is not just important to do if you do any energy work but is a must in your own home to clear it of any negative or residual energy. Any building can absorb energy which can often be negative and it will affect the energy of anyone who is occupying the space; often making you feel drained and lethargic. So if you’re lacking in energy yourself, read how to cleanse your space below.

When should you space cleanse?

  • After you remove clutter
  • After an argument
  • When you move into a new space
  • When people move out (renting/students)
  • After a relationship breakup or divorce
  • After illness or death
  • When you buy second-hand furniture
  • Anytime you need a fresh start or change
  • At least twice a year
  • When you feel someone has been negative in your space (even in your car)
  • When you go away 
    • Mattresses hold energy; cleanse the bed and the room
  • Your healing couch after you have done healing on a client 

What tools do we need

  • Pendulum cage
  • Crystal 
  • Smoke
  • Sound
  • Salt
  • Candles
  • Copper Pipe

Preparing to Energy Cleanse

If you are just clearing your own space before a healing you can light sage to smudge into the corners or use tingshas in all corners of the room as explained and demonstrated in my Cleansing Crystals video. Or, alternatively, you could use a crystal spray to spray in all four corners. Any of these are really effective and will clear the energy really quickly. It is the intention that is the most important. You could also use tingshas in a circular motion as I demonstrated in the crystal clearing video to clear your healing couch or even a chair if someone has been sat it in. 

If you wish to take this a stage further and charge for house clearing, you need to be more thorough. However, please be aware that you must be properly grounded, centred and protected before you do this and it is recommended that you have some experience of working with energy before you even attempt it. Often people work in pairs for safety and maybe also to ensure that someone more experienced is working with someone doing it for the first time.

Preparation

  • It is advisable to do just one room at a time
  • Make a plan
  • All rooms will be different shapes and sizes so adjust accordingly
  • Make sure you cover every nook and cranny
  • Clear the room first and then the furniture
    • Make sure you do inside cupboards as well

Energy Cleansing Technique

  • Using a cage with a crystal inside; preferably clear quartz, walk the line as indicated making sure that you cover the whole room.
  • When you find a dense energy spot, the crystal pendulum will circle until it clears it. Once cleared, the cage will return to neutral swing; forwards and backwards.
  • When you have cleansed the whole room, go into the first corner and use your sound implement. This can be clapping hands, bells, tingshas, rattles or anything that makes a loud noise to disperse negative energy. Repeat exercise to other corners.
  • After sounding, use your smoke implement. This can be incense or a sage smudge stick. Use in all four corners, going upwards from the bottom of the corner in circles.
  • After sound and smoke, put a small pot of rock salt in each corner to draw in the negative energy. Leave for approximately 3 days then put the salt back into the earth. Never put it down sinks or toilets as you will be transferring the energy somewhere else.
  • Open a window if possible.
  • Light a tea-light or candle making sure that it is safe
    • Blue to bring calmness
    • Pink for love
    • Green for balance
    • If you don’t have coloured candles, you can use coloured holders for the same effect

Tips for Cleansing Inside Space

  • Use exactly the same technique for offices, workspaces and homes.
  • Cleanse individual furniture pieces by holding the cage pendulum over the item, wait for the neutral swing (forwards and backwards) and if there is negativity present it will circle until it clears.
  • Always deeply cleanse second hand furniture, even if you know where it came from.
  • If you know that someone is visiting, cleanse your chairs before they arrive and when they leave and, if staying overnight, the bed that they sleep in.
  • If you share living and sleeping space with someone who is ill or grumpy, make sure that chairs and bed are checked regularly.
  • Be mindful when you are staying in hotels etc. Although you cannot use smoke, you can still cleanse beds and chairs using sound, crystal water spray or your cage pendulum. You don’t know how many people have left their energy in the bed and the room. This can often be why you may experience disturbed sleep when you stay in a hotel or a strange bed.
  • Everything holds energy. Even when you receive a gift from someone it will be imbued with their energy, the thought they put into it when buying it and the handling it until you receive it.
  • You can cleanse ornaments; nothing is bad once it’s cleansed.
  • Clear quartz will absorb energy; you can put some by your TV, laptop etc.
  • This all may sound very excessive but if in doubt check it out. You can always ask in your pendulum if a room or space needs clearing. 

Tips for Cleansing Outside Space

  • When doing a house clearing, you need to do outside as well.
  • You can make a plan if you wish and cleanse the whole garden.
  • The main problem areas with some buildings tends to be lie around the perimeter of the building. These are called ‘portals of energy’ in other words gateways for energy.
  • Outside space is checked in exactly the same way as indoors; you walk the area with your cage pendulum and it should be in neutral swing if energy is positive. Do what you can get access to; it will still help.
  • If you find a negative spot, it will circle until it clears, just the same way as indoors.
  • You can use sound, smoke and salt in the area as well if you want to but it is just as effective to put a piece of copper pipe into the ground where you found the imbalance. This will deflect the negative energy away from the house/building.
  • If you cannot push pipe into the earth near the building, put it into a plant pot containing soil and leave near the area. Check how long to leave it for with your pendulum.
  • Copper pipe is also excellent for deflecting energies thrown off by pylons or radio masts.

If you only clear the main rooms that you live in regularly, it will really make a difference; you don’t need to do the whole house and outside too often. Try it and I’m sure it will make a massive difference to your own energy.

I absolutely love cleansing my energy space and do it every time I send energy so the rooms I spend the most time in are cleansed at least once every day and my favourite way to do it is with my tingshas, sage or incense. I also light lots of candles and have salt lamps to absorb the negative energy. It really gets me in the zone when I do my reiki and is so calming.

Grounding and protection

Grounding & Protection

 

 

Energy work can be very draining for Light-workers. Therefore, before we start to do any energy work or at the start of each day, it is very important to make sure we instil a short routine of grounding and protection.

How to Ground

To ground ourselves we can walk outside, hug a tree, sit outside with a cuppa, have something to eat and drink a glass of water. However, in our busy lives, we do not always have time to do this. There are a number of other ways to ground that are really easy to do wherever you are. I have listed some of them below:

  • Sit comfortably in a chair with your feet firmly on the floor and take three deep breaths, releasing any tension as you breathe out. Then, put your favourite chosen visualisation grounding method in place:
    • A bright light coming down through your crown chakra then through all of your chakras and finally coming out as roots growing out of your feet into the ground
    • A large bubble surrounding your body (this can also be good for protection)
    • Imagine yourself somewhere nice outdoors (your favourite place)
  • Tapping In
    • This is the easiest way to ground and it is so effective. It brings into balance all of the major energy centres and is one of the simplest and most effective techniques for ensuring that a stable, centred energy is kept in place.
    • Lightly tap with fingertips on the area of the upper chest where the collarbone (clavicle) meets the breast bone (sternum)
    • This is found near the thymus gland, which maintains the energy of the subtle body
    • Place your other hand over the naval whilst you are tapping the thymus
    • Alternatively, tap in an anti-clockwise circle in the same area about 20 times

Protection

It is also important to protect yourself from other energies as they can be very draining on your own energy. It does not always mean to protect from bad energies; if someone is feeling down or ill, as a light-worker, we can absorb that energy and it can affect our physical bodies as well as our emotions.

There are many different things you can do to protect yourself each day and it is especially important to do this first thing in the morning as well grounding.

Here are some suggested methods:

  • You could call in Archangel Michael by calling his name 3 times and thank him for surrounding you with his protective light.
  • You could say: “Please protect me from all energies that are not mine and all energies that no longer serve my highest purpose at this time”
  • You can visualise Archangel Michael putting his blue cloak of protection around you or putting a protection bubble around yourself at the start of the day so that any other energies bounce off the bubble and do not affect you.
  • You can also say a protection prayer (taken from Kyle Grays book “Angel Prayers):

“Thank you for Archangel Michael for surrounding me in your gentle blue light of protection. I know I am safe when you are near! And so it is!

Never forget to centre and ground yourself before doing any energy work and at the start of each day.

Full Moon Letting Go & Manifestation

As seen in Reiki Rays

With a full moon, we very often write what it is we want to let go of. However, when we let go it is a good time to also bring in the new and manifest whatever it is your heart desires. By letting go of anything that does not serve you, it will bring in new powerful energy for whatever you desire so you need to make sure that you are clear on what you would like to manifest the most.

What you need to do is take a large piece of paper, A4 size would be good but it doesn’t matter.

Fold the piece of paper in half and write down ONE thing you really need to get rid of. It is a good idea to do one thing at a time as you can really focus on that one issue to let go of. Once you feel you have properly let go of something and healed from it, you can then work on something else. Please bear in mind that when you are letting go, lots of negative thoughts and emotions can come up for some time afterwards and often need separate periods to completely heal and let go of, particularly if they are big issues.

Here is an example of what you could write to let go of money blocks.

ON THE LEFT HAND SIDE

Dear Universe

I AM so happy and grateful NOW THAT I am letting go of all my money worries, all my fears and anxieties to do with money, all the debt that is weighing down heavy on my shoulders, all the feelings of lack I always have with money, all the feelings of money burning a hole in my pocket, all the feelings of just scraping by, all the feelings of struggling with money and never having enough in the bank and never have any savings.

Really pour out all the feelings you have about money (or whatever it is you want to let go of).

Then add

“Thank you for taking away anything that does not serve me with regards to money and is stopping my flow.

I am releasing all of this with grace and ease and a big weight is lifting off my shoulders!

All for my highest good.

And so it is!!

THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU”

THEN

ON THE RIGHT HAND SIDE

Write how you want your money situation to be as though you have it already:

FULL MOON INTENTION – insert date here

I AM so happy and grateful NOW THAT I have an abundance of money. I have more than enough money. Money flows to me easily and frequently. I always have more than enough money in my bank account and I am able to treat myself and my family whenever I wish as well as give money to my favourite charity. I love money and money loves me, it flows to me in an abundant and steady flow. It is so good to get the old weight off my shoulders and so it is!! Thank you angels for the abundance of money in my life.

AND SO IT IS!!

THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU

THEN

Carefully tear or cut the paper in half and burn the LEFT HAND side on the full moon. You can burn it anytime in the next 24 hours as the moon energy is becoming intense already. Fold up the RIGHT HAND side and put it somewhere prominent, under your pillow or on your mantelpiece or in your reiki box then ask that the energy be sent to all of your full moon intentions for as long as is needed to manifest them.

It doesn’t have to be money, I have just given that as an example. It can be anything you wish to let go of. Just concentrate on one major thing that you feel is holding you back. Write down what you want to let go of on the left hand side. Be as negative as you like here, really pour out your feelings, then on the right hand side be really positive as though you have it already and what you would like to manifest. It doesn’t even matter if they don’t match. If you let go of something that is not serving you, it will free up the flow of creation for manifestation of all the good things you wish to have in your life NOW.

Memories …..

Today when I got up I looked at my memories on Facebook, as you do. There wasn’t much there but one caught my eye and it was an article I had shared from Huffington Post about depression. It really rang true to me a couple of years ago as I suffered from severe stress and depression due to what my counsellor described as post traumatic stress disorder. I remembered I laughed at the time. How could I have PTSD? I hadn’t been in a serious accident, I wasn’t a soldier that had suffered from heavy combat; I had just managed to leave my husband after years of mental abuse 5 years earlier and was stressed due to an ongoing court case for ancillary relief with him, That wasn’t anything major!

I know how they feel …

I read this article again today and shared it on my timeline. I really feel for people who suffer from depression and stress as I know how it feels. The days when you just don’t want to get out of bed. The days you just let the phone ring because you don’t want to speak to anyone. The days you phone in sick saying you have a migraine because you can’t stop crying. I battled with stress and depression and for a couple of years and hardly anyone understood. And then I remembered a dream I had last night. It was one about my last place of work. I was a teacher at a college and, very often when I had time off, I was alienated. The past had come back to haunt me in my dream and I remembered in my dream I turned around to go and “have it out” with the person that was alienating me and bringing everyone else along with them. Then I changed my mind and turned back around again. I sat in a corner and cried and cried. Why oh why did no one understand what I was going through? It was a horrible dream but one that was based on past reality and it had come back to haunt me. This dream and the article brought it all back. You see when you are healing from something, it takes a while to heal properly. As my reiki teacher had always said “It’s like peeling the layers of a onion. You think you’re over it then you peel back another layer.

What had I got to show for it …

I worked as a lecturer for 14 years. Blood, sweat and tears. Years and years studying and working hard. I loved my job until my ex best friend took over as my boss and began to bully me. She pretended to be my friend and yet was plotting behind my back to get ahead of me and then to get rid of me. I poured out to her everything I was going through with the court case, the stress I was under and how some days I just felt like I was on auto-pilot and just going through the motions. She used it against me and her and the Head of Department plotted to get rid of me. I had to go through a gruelling tribunal type meeting with the Head, someone from HR, my union rep and the Deputy Principal. As I had had to represent myself in court on numerous occasions and actually question my ex, my abuser, I was well prepared but it was still really nerve-racking. I had been back at work for 5 weeks and I was now full time after being off with a chronic ear condition, probably brought on by stress yet again. I felt the meeting went well and the Head went out of the room very red faced by some of the things I had brought up about the incompetence of my line manager in dealing with my sickness. It was all on paper how she had skipped the correct procedure. However, it was all in vain. After a whole week of waiting, I was finally told by the Deputy Head at 4.00 pm on a Friday that I was dismissed. Not only that would I go and empty my desk there and then. I refused as the two bosses had suddenly descended on the staff room before I had left for the meeting. More than likely to sit there laughing whilst I packed all my things. Instead I went home and cried in my husband’s arms.

Deep down I knew it was meant to be …

As I had been doing a lot of Reiki on myself with the intention to do a job that I loved with people I got on really well with and I had just left the outcome to the Angels and trusted I would get the right one so I quickly bounced back and within two weeks I got a teaching job. It was a hourly paid job teaching in a pupil referral unit. I was a bit nervous but looking forward to it. I mostly worked on my own in a small building in a small town and had to open up and lock up when I left. There were only a hand full of kids at most and I really enjoyed it but, even though it was part time, I spent all my spare time at home preparing lessons. Till one day two months later I got hit with another bomb shell. The Manager rang me and said, due to a bad Ofsted report, they were closing down the Walsall branch which meant all the teaching staff from there would be coming over to Cannock where I worked and he would have to let me go. I was devastated! Yet again I would be out of work! He said I could stay till Christmas whilst the changeover happened.

Observed for two hours …

After a couple of weeks he came over to Cannock and then after about 3 weeks asked if I could stay a bit longer as the tutor teaching my subjects had been asked to teach the pupils from Walsall in another pupil referral unit but it would only be for about another 4 weeks. He said he would let me know for definite before we broke up for Christmas. Except he didn’t tell me. I broke up for Christmas not knowing if I had a job to go back to or not. In the end I had to contact him just after new year. He confirmed he needed me so I went back to work. 1 week later he came into my classroom to do an unannounced observation and stayed for 2 hours! I really didn’t like his energy. It was harsh and I could feel his eyes burning holes into my back as I wrote on the board. I don’t know how I got through the two hours but as soon as I got home I phoned my mom and cried. I only had 3 weeks left to work but my mom told me to quit there and then. She said I’d come a long way after being ill and it wasn’t worth getting stressed out over all over again. I wanted to hug my mom. She was so supportive and really understood what I was going through.

Every cloud has a silver lining…

I had had a payout from the college due to threatening to take them to a tribunal and we were finally able to get enough deposit together to buy a house in my husband’s name so I decided to seek the Government Enterprise allowance and start my own business. That was nearly two years ago now and, despite a few wobbles, I have never given up. Reiki has changed my life! Literally! It has helped me overcome stress, anxiety, depression, helped me heal from a major ear operation and a chronic ear condition and has kept me calm and content with my life. I work alone at home but I feel more loved and fulfilled than I have in my entire life. I have a handful of friends that I go out with and I have met loads of lovely friends online through groups I am in and through people that have joined my group and most of all I have the love of the Angels surrounding me every single day and I never feel alone. I have done a massive amount of healing myself this last year and, despite the peaks and throughs of deep healing, I have kept my business going and it’s slowly started to pick up. I still sometimes have a moment when I miss my old job but it’s only a fleeting moment. I sometimes feel sad and upset that people that called themselves my friends at work haven’t even asked to see me since and really didn’t seem to care how I was. A couple of them have messaged me but that’s it. All the people I helped so much over the years. The ones that confided in me and came to me with their problems. Gone and forgotten that’s what I feel like sometimes but I must still be healing from it and I will be able to remember without it bringing a tear to my eyes soon and then I will know I am healed. I have had to dig deep to regain that confidence and I have started recording my very first online course. Not only that I have managed two live webinars!

Conclusion …

So, if you come across someone suffering with stress, anxiety and depression. They are not putting it on. They are not attention seeking. They are going through a hard time and they just need someone to listen without passing judgement. They need a friend, someone who doesn’t alienate them, someone who is there for them and makes them laugh so they can forget their troubles. I am lucky as, due to Reiki, I don’t suffer with it anymore but please, show only love and compassion for things you don’t understand and always remember the saying “There but for the grace of God go I”. And if you are someone who is struggling at the moment, never ever give up! When you lose something, there is always something better waiting round the corner. Dig deep and find the courage to move forward. If I can do it anyone can! My mission in life now is to help as many people as I can to get over their struggles, their blocks in life and move forwards. Even if it’s only tiny steps I will help them get there. I want people to never feel alone again and give them that helping hand that they need!

What a Difference a Day Makes

As many of you know, I’ve had a very difficult couple of months. My mom was rushed into hospital on her 85th birthday after falling in the bathroom. She was very confused and thought there was a man in the house that was trying to kill her. I went with her in the ambulance and the paramedics were amazing. They said she looked like the Queen and kept calling her “Your majesty”. She was very confused and was eventually admitted into hospital. It was a very harrowing time for us all as the doctors did not know what was wrong with her and actually, to this day we still haven’t had a proper diagnosis.

I gave her Reiki in hospital every day when we went to visit which seemed to calm her a bit but she was still having hallucinations and thinking someone was going to kill her. After a couple of weeks in hospital they decided she would be better off being assessed in her home environment. She carried on having hallucinations and getting scared a lot of the time but we had medication to calm her.

I have been doing a Crystal therapy Diploma course since February and decided to try crystal therapy on her. I knew it would be difficult to give it to her at home so I decided to do distance healing. The next day I was absolutely amazed! Within one day she had gone from thinking someone was going to kill her to thinking the little boy over the road wanted an ice cream!

I have learned that crystal healing is very, very powerful. Don’t get me wrong I love my Reiki and it will always be my passion but adding crystals to my Reiki practice has made such an amazing difference!

I am so grateful I am able to help my mom in this way. I still have a crystal web set up for her which is sending her constant healing and, of course, send Reiki to her every day and every day she is getting better and better. Whatever struggles we go through in life, one day can make all the difference. We should all remember that when we are having a bad day or a bad time of it. It can and will get better, one day at a time.

I’m Not Selfish

I just wanted to share something with you all that has really hit home this week. I am part of a group that my reiki teacher runs called the Reiki Healers Academy. She sends us lovely reiki healing once a fortnight and a newsletter as well.

In the newsletter this week she talked about making sure we take some time out in our busy lives and do something that we enjoy. Making sure we book some time in our diaries for something to nurture ourselves. We very often give so much of ourselves that we get burnout and have nothing left to give. I read it and thought I had taken it on board and entered some times in my diary to take some time out. I didn’t stick to them at all though and carried on working.

A couple of days later, at an advanced intuition evening with my reiki teacher, we did card readings in various ways. It was a fabulous evening; they always are, and my reiki teacher always takes guidance as to who should partner who. I kept get messages to take some time out and to ground, spend more time outdoors in nature and nurture myself as well as to not keep giving so much to others. My reading partner and I were also giving each other similar messages in our readings for each other. I shared how busy I am getting as my business is starting to move forward and that I felt as though I was running on adrenaline. I have been working and chatting and helping people 7 days a week from the minute I opened my eyes to the minute I closed them. I have been sending group healing as well as healing to my reiki box and reiki list, doing free readings and, after a slow period, I have started to work with clients individually again.

The next day, after the intuition evening, I woke up and burst into tears. I spent the whole day feeling teary and knew I needed to take some time out. A friend I had been helping offered to help me with a technical task I needed to do and could not get my head round and I turned off the notifications on my phone, and shutdown my laptop. I spent the day pampering myself and chilling doing whatever I wanted to do during the day. I took everything in my stride, listened to some nice music and looked after me for a change. I normally feel guilty when I do this with what I do but, if I hadn’t have done it, I am sure I would have made myself ill trying to help people all the time. I have decided to have one day off in the week and at least one day at the weekend and not to answer messages at 1.00 am in the morning. It really was getting too much and when I look back, none of it was really urgent.

We all tend to be too busy in our lives to do the things that give us joy in our hearts when, really, a lot of things could actually wait a while. Make sure you take some time out when you can and, if you need to, book some time in your diary just for you. Have a coffee with a friend, have a nice bath, read a book, go for a nice walk, nurture yourself. I should have started to see the warning signs a couple of days before when I started swearing at the computer as it was not loading a photo from my phone. Oops, not like me at all; I’m usually calm and collected. So, if you find yourself getting snappy, losing your patience like me, it’s a sure sign you need to take some time out. Do something for you at least for a couple of hours a week.
